Restaurant Review: Bistro 217

Our good friend, Anne Hardee, owns two incredible restaurants on Pawley’s Island – Bistro 217 and Rustic Table. In this blog, I will focus on Bistro 217 – a great place for fantastic food and conversation.

The restaurant gets its name because it is located along the U.S. 17 route through the Hammock coastline.  Anne and her partner Adam Kirby have heaps of experience in the restaurant game, and it shows!

Bistro 217 has a great atmosphere as you will discover as you walk through the courtyard entrance. There is a lunch, bar, dinner, and cocktail menu – so all the bases are covered. I also love the eclectic mix of dishes to choose from.

If you want to go the salad route, we recommend the Hawaiian Salad, the Honey-Lime Chicken Salad, or the Fried Oyster Salad. The Tomato, Crab & Jalapeno soup is a firm favorite with the local crowd, or go for one of the classics – French Onion Soup. Sometimes we’ll just order several dishes to the table and enjoy sharing the different tastes and flavors – the Crabcakes, Vegetable Quesadillas and Oriental Nachos will keep you coming back for more. We love the Braised Short Ribs, Korean Chili Seared Salmon, or Fish Tacos for dinner. There is something for everyone on the Bistro 217 menu, but make sure you leave some space for dessert. The Warm White Chocolate Pudding and Chocolate Lava Cake are worth leaving home for!

But, Bistro 217 is more than great food; the great service and relaxed ambiance make it warm and welcoming. Whether you are having a business lunch or dinner or popping in for a light meal with the family – it’s a great place to pause and remind yourself that the good things in life are there for sharing.
