As President of Palmetto Infusion, Tim Hadley brings over 25 years of healthcare experience to his new role. He emphasizes the importance of building a business based on strong personal values and creating a culture of collaboration and diversity.
Tim Hadley’s journey began in a farming town in Michigan. As the first person in his family to attend college, he worked full-time while pursuing his degree. No stranger to hard work, his path in the healthcare industry started at the Stryker headquarters in Michigan. Over the years, he has worked in public companies, privately owned businesses, and private equity-backed enterprises. The common denominator in all his roles has been making a difference in people’s lives through taking action.
He says, “My entire career has been helping people with neurological disorders, degenerative diseases, and complex chronic issues – and finding ways to make their lives a little bit better in some way, shape, or form.” His work has taken him across the country, from Michigan to New Mexico, Arizona, and now, Tennessee.
The Move to Palmetto: Alignment of Values
Tim joined Palmetto Infusion back in February 2024. He says it was a no-brainer, emphasizing the importance of finding a company that mirrored his values in creating a more caring, empathetic healthcare community.
“Knowing that Gary (Cooper), David (Goodall), and the rest of the leadership team, along with Carousel Capital, the private equity partner, all feel the same way, made it obvious that it was a good fit for where I wanted to be and what I wanted to do,” Tim explains.
“Palmetto is and always will be about people,” says Tim. “It’s the people and their commitment to providing good care, quality service, and making an impact in the communities in which they operate.” At Palmetto, Tim’s leadership approach focuses on empowering his team and further fostering a culture of accountability. “My goal is to remove roadblocks and obstacles,” he explains. “I am here to help everyone else be successful in what they already do.”
He argues that the teams at Palmetto Infusion have what it takes to take the business to new heights. He also believes in the power of collaboration and letting people hone their strengths. “I know I’m never going to be the smartest guy in the room, and I’m okay with that. That’s why we bring in all the other experts in their fields and areas,” he says.
It’s All About The Why
A key aspect of Tim’s leadership style is clear communication, setting expectations, and trusting people to get on with the job. He says, “I believe in explaining the why, not dictating the what,” he states.
As Palmetto continues to grow, Tim is focused on further instilling a culture of ownership throughout the company, something that Chairman Gary Cooper and the rest of the leadership team also champion. He says this involves educating employees at all levels about how their roles impact the company in the big scheme of things and what levers they can pull to make an impact.
While long-term employees already felt a sense of personal ownership, he says support structures haven’t always been in place for everyone. His goal is to change that by improving communication about business performance, transferring goals and objectives to mid-level management roles, and creating a framework where everyone can thrive.
He acknowledges that the focus on accountability extends to all levels of the business and that it’s key that each and every employee knows how vital they are to the company’s success. Tim aims to create an even more engaged and effective workforce.
Growing the Chairman’s Club Awards
Rewarding hard work and excellence is paramount, and one of Tim’s key initiatives is expanding the Chairman’s Club Awards. He plans to transform it into a more inclusive event that recognizes more employee contributions. He sees the awards as more than recognition for sales performance; they are a crucial tool for acknowledging the impact that employees make on each other and the organization as a whole.
“With 600 employees, there are a lot of people who do a lot of great things that deserve that recognition,” he says.
Championing Diversity and Inclusion
Tim also stresses the importance of diversity and inclusion and believes that more diverse perspectives on business lead to better service and greater efficiency. “I think the more diverse views, opinions, and opportunities that we have within an organization, the better we can serve the broader population,” he says. This commitment to diversity isn’t some kind of corporate checklist but it’s about creating a team that truly understands and serves Palmetto’s diverse customer base.
Looking Ahead
Tim intends to take the company to greater heights as he settles into his role at Palmetto. Chairman Gary Cooper and the rest of the Palmetto Infusion leadership team are excited to witness how Tim will build on Palmetto’s legacy while adding his unique twist. With his experience in larger organizations, he hopes to guide Palmetto through its current phase while maintaining and capitalizing on the existing commitment to quality care. “The company has grown significantly over the last few years,” he notes. “And with growth comes a lot of change.”
However, Tim quickly emphasizes that his role is not about changing everything. Instead, it’s about building on Palmetto’s existing strengths. He says, “My role is not to come in and change everything but to take it to the next level.”
